Light Maggie's LED

- by Jonathan Llewellyn, Raphael Titsworth-Morin, Lindy Wilkins, and Jonathan Wilansky

The idea for this project started with wanting throw LEDs at a scoreboard. We would use the foam tube as the scoreboard, and magnets inside it and attached to LEDs to catch the LEDs into place. When the LED is in place, a circuit would be closed and the LED would light up.

The idea progressed. The game consists of the board: a tray filled with water, and a character called Maggie: a LED floating on a boat. On one end of the board there are 4 electromagnets. The goal of the game is for the player to use the electromagnets to drop Maggie off at the correct position. The player uses a joystick to control the electromagnets around the board in attempt to pull the boat into a drop off location. When the boat is in the drop off place, a magnet pulls Maggie up and out of the boat. There are three drop off spots, two of them are tricks and cause the player to lose the game. One of these locations is the winning spot, and when Maggie is pulled up, her LED lights up.

The Rules

The rules are simple, get Maggie to the other end of the ocrean without falling victem to any of the deadly electro magnets along the way. This is contorlled through the light sensors, guiding Maggie through the harsh oceans, to safty. You will know Maggie is safe when she lights up.
